I would like to commiserate to the Ramos Family for the passing away of Ms. Josephine “Jo” Ramos last Monday, in the early morning of June 27 due to lung cancer. Jo Ramos was the second of the five daughters of Former President Fidel V. Ramos and Former First Lady Amelita “Ming” Ramos. She was the former member of Power Play Band and a back-up singer of Gary Valenciano.
Jo secretly kept the battle against lung cancer that she became a smoker for 25 years. She revealed this illness to her family in just 5 weeks before she died. FVR told that his daughter was suffered lung cancer eight months ago.
Meanwhile, actor Lloyd Samartino, Jo’s estranged husband, was interviewed on ABS-CBN News about Jo’s condition but he believed that she was getting better.
“I know she fought it really hard kasi siya din, na-underestimate niya din ang bilis. By the time na nalaman namin, kalat na kalat na,” Samartino said. *
The actor, who last saw Jo 2 months ago, has only good words for her, especially for being a mother to their 17-year-old son Sergio.*
“Jo is a wonderful mom. She’s really a hands-on mom sa anak namin. It’s a testimony sa kanya na lumaki ang anak ko na level-headed, very grounded considering kung sino sila,” Samartino said. *
Samartino married Jo in the ’90s, but they separated in 2004. *
Samartino is now involved in construction and real estate. (* Excerpts from http://www.abs-cbnnews.com/entertainment/06/28/11/lloyd-samartino-speaks-jo-ramos-death).
