Today is the Third Sunday of Advent, “Gaudete Sunday” the apostle Paul really invites us to rejoice! He always reminds us to banish from our hearts all forms of anxieties and fears, for the Lord is near.
In the Gospel, St. John the Baptist encourages us to be generous, fair and service-minded. These are the attitudes that make our preparation for Christmas practical and fruitful. In this season of joyful expectation, we ever more open our hearts to welcome the Lord Jesus. Such is the basic disposition he needs to find in us so that he may bring about in us that radical renewal we are all yearning for.
The Third Sunday of Advent falls between December 11 to 17. The entrance antiphon will be Gaudete in Domino semper: iterum dico, gaudete. Dominus enim prope est (Rejoice in the Lord always; again I say, rejoice! The Lord is near).
The candle on the wreath is pink and the liturgical vestment for the mass celebrant is rose or carnation pink.
Let’s not be ashamed to rejoice, my dear bloggers, but we must be happy because Christmas is almost near! Amen!
