My Stand for RH Bill and Catholic Bishops

It’s about time to write my stand for Reproductive Health (RH) Bill and to my brother Catholic Bishops, clergy, religious and laity here in the Philippines.  Our country has filled with major, major problems every year:  OVERPOPULATION.

I was in Elementary, High School, and College that some of my former teachers, professors and colleagues who discussed the major effects of overpopulation here in this country.  They said to me in one word:  POVERTY.  I hate to use the word poverty because we are not poor but we are rich by God’s values in this country through the teachings of the Holy Scriptures and Sacred Traditions of the Church.  Now, what are the problems that affect the overpopulation of our country?  Poverty? NO! The answers: self-control and discipline. I am going to use the Canadian Catholic Bible according to I Corinthians 7:5 in New Revised Standard Version (NRSV):

“Do not deprive one another except perhaps by agreement for a set time, to devote yourselves to prayer, and then come together again, so that Satan may not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.”

The Apostle Paul refers to the married couples.  Couples, either married or unmarried, failed to spend time in prayer because they are always tempted by Satan due to lustful pleasures and laxity of self-control for them.  I blamed for some youths who are rushing to get married.  Marriage, you know, is part of responsible parenthood and shaping the family!

For Catholic Bishops, I address to you right now, look at those little children who are bum to beg on the deadly major avenues nowadays and felons in the future.  Don’t stay in your office but it’s time to get out, to act and to educate those children with God’s fear.  May I ask to the Bishops, do you love the poor children to feed and to educate them for the future?

Again, for the Bishops, you are not allowed to play in politics but must  participate to our government and society.  Cease your plots of civil disobedience  against the present administration!  You must talk peacefully to PNoy and to the people to set-up the public dialogue on RH Bill!

Pope Benedict XVI urged to the Bishops and priests not to participate in politics. Here’s the statement of Benedict XVI:

“The Church cannot and must not take upon herself the political battle to bring about the most just society possible.  She cannot and must not replace State.  Yet at the same time she cannot and must not remain on the sidelines in the fight for justice.  She has to play her part through rational argument and she has to reawaken the spiritual energy without which justice, which always demands sacrifice, cannot prevail and prosper.  A just society must be the achievement of politics, not the Church.  Yet the promotion of justice through efforts to bring about openness of mind and will to the demands of the common good is something which concerns the Church deeply” (Deus Caritas Est, #28, a).

You were ordained by the Pope and must obey his rule at the Vatican! You taught the sacraments not to commit us from sins! Right?

Do you exercise or contribute taxes to our national government for building the nation? Did you follow Jesus and his disciples to pay taxes to Caesar according to Matthew 22:15-21? Look at the other countries that some bishops contribute taxes to the government.

I have my own stand on RH Bill.  I want to read the RH bill first before saying or giving an opinion whether good or bad.  Only the people will decide if it will be in favor to accept the RH bill or not.  Bishops also must read first the RH Bill before igniting their violent reactions.

As a devout Catholic, I am not in favor of some kinds of abortion due to contraceptive pills and careless medical methods.  I call to the medical practitioners and midwiferies, who are willing to practice abortion, must refuse to accept patients as expectant mothers to kill the baby in their womb.   For me, abortion or shedding innocent blood is detestable and forbidden in the scriptures according to Proverbs 6:16-17.

I am not in favor, too, that those mothers who gave birth for a child and neglect it like a trash. She commits sin due to infidelity of the family.  It’s written in I Timothy 5:8:

“And whoever does not provide for relatives, and especially for family members, has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.”

For me, let’s give a chance to control our population to alleviate poverty and human trafficking in this nation.  I ask to the legislators, religious groups, medical practitioners and individuals to participate and to paraphrase the title of the bill “I Corinthians 7:5”.  This revised bill title must follow the commandments of God and the restrictions of using medical pills for the women to prevent abortion in the future.  Self-control and discipline are the methods of true family planning.  Amen!
